Research into ancestral nutrition and causes of modern diseases of civilization

Weston Price. Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, Book, 6th Ed. Available at Project Gutenberg. Weston Price, D.D.S., traveled into the remote areas of the world to explore the nutrition of the native people. He research traditional communities in Europe, Northern and South America, Africa, Australia, and Oceania and compared the nutrition and health status of people following traditional diets to those who adopted “Westernized” diets. He concludes that westernized diets, abundant in refined sugars, grains, and seed oils are implicated in diseases of civilization as they severely lack essential nutrients such as fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, D, and “activator X”(vitamin K2) and minerals. The book is rich in photographs depicting the dental health of people following traditional and “westernized” diets. Price’s research was done in 1931-38, yet it is especially relevant today.
