Self-help: psychology and mind mastering

The Willpower Instinct: How Self-Control Works, Why It Matters, And What You Can Do to Get More of It.

We don’t very often think about willpower as something vitally important, but it’s actually a tool that helps us achieve goals, attain harmony in relationships, cultivate better personality, and shape the life that we want. This book by Kelly McGonial is build on her massively popular course in Stanford University “The Science of Willpower”, that had a life-changing impact for hundreds of students. This books uses scientific evidence to reveal that willpower is not some special virtue, it’s a biological function that can be developed with the help of mindfulness, exercise, nutrition and sleep. The book is divided into ten chapters, each chapter representing one lesson with definite topic and homework: observational and practical tasks that you need to complete in your daily life to improve your awareness and willpower. What I like about the book is that it gives you very simple, elementary exercises that you just cannot say no to – for they are so simple – and if you practice them consistently, they help you tap into your willpower source and develop more of it.
